IHC Scholarships - Guidelines

RENEWAL -

Applications must be postmarked by February 15 of the current year.

Please answer the following questions in order on a separate sheet of paper.  Place all information in chronological order from recent to earliest dates.

  1. Give the name and address of the institution of higher learning at which you will be enrolled in the fall.
  2. List any extracurricular activities from the receipt of your initial scholarship to the present time.
  3. List any employment and/or horse related activities from the receipt of your initial scholarship to the present time.
  4. Include a separate handwritten or typed (500 words or less) synopsis of your time from the time of your initial scholarship to present and how that compliments your goals.

IN ADDITION TO THE ABOVES QUESTIONS, THE APPLICANT MUST ALSO SUBMIT THE FOLLOWING:

  1. Letters of recommendation: The applicant must have submitted on their behalf two letters of recommendation. Letters are required from faculty advisor and from one of the following: president or board members of state horse organizations, civic or community leaders, or employers.
  2. Submit an OFFICIAL transcript.
  3. Renewals will be evaluated based on their academic standing from the time of initial scholarship receipt to the time the pending application is submitted.  SUBMIT A TRANSCRIPT COVERING THE ABOVE TIME.  A 2.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA) must be maintained; should any single semester drop below this, the application is disqualified.

RETURN THE COMPLETED APPLICATION AND REQUIRED MATERIALS TO:  IOWA HORSE COUNCIL, SCHOLARSHIP RENEWAL, BARB ZUKOWSKI, 3397-265TH STREET, ST. CHARLES, IA 50240.

CURRENT HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE -

Applications must be postmarked by February 15 of the current year.

Please answer the following questions in order on a separate sheet of paper.  Place all information in chronological order from recent to earliest dates.

  1. High school extra curricular activities. Applicant may use all four years or a portion thereof; include offices held and awards received.
  2. Community activities.
  3. Horse related activities.  This information should include club memberships and activities as well as competitions and exhibitions.
  4. Any employment you feels compliments this application.
  5. What course of study you will pursue in higher education.
  6. Names of schools you have made (or are making) application, in order of preference.
  7. If you have made your choice, and have been accepted, provide the address of the Registrar, Provost, Dean, or Business Department to who tuition is paid.
  8. Include a separate, handwritten or typed (500 words or less), explanation of your educational plans and goals.

IN ADDITION TO THE ABOVE QUESTIONS, THE APPLICANT MUST ALSO SUBMIT THE FOLLOWING:

  1. Letters of recommendation: The applicant must have submitted on their behalf two letters of recommendation. Letters are required from: president or board member of a state horse organization and from one of the following: high school principal, counselor, or employer.
  2. A copy of your high school transcripts.

OPEN - Non High School Senior/Non Previous Award Winner -

Applications must be postmarked by February 15 of current year.

Please complete the following questions in order on a separate sheet of paper.  Place all information in chronological order from recent to earliest dates.

  1. Give the name and address of the institution of higher learning at which you will be enrolled in the fall.
  2. List any extra curricular activities from the past two years to the present time.
  3. List any employment and/or horse related activities from the past two years to the present time.
  4. Include a separate, handwritten or typed (500 words or less), explanation of your education plans and goals.

IN ADDITION TO THE ABOVE QUESTIONS, THE APPLICANT MUST ALSO SUBMIT THE FOLLOWING:

  1. Letters of recommendation: The applicant must have submitted on their behalf two letters of recommendation.  Letters are required from an office of a state horse organization, and others may be from civic or community leaders, employers, or volunteer groups.
